As a bass fisherman I do have respect for docks and other boats. I have kids and i am very protective over them on the water. In my years of fishing I have learned to keep a 1oz. sinker tied on a baitcasting reel. I have hit guys on jet skies with it along with broke a windshield on a nice ski boat. The lake patrol said it was his fault for coming to close to my boat. I dont come close enough to cut their ski rope and I don't expect anyone to come within casting distance of me. If I'm fishing I don't want people going between me and the bank where Im fishing. We all need to have respect for each others safety and property. OH YEA, I did not get to respond to all this cause I was on the lake all last week having a GREAT time. See you guys around, other, other, Ga., Steve

Ga. Steve,

I appreciate your consideration of docks, other boats, etc. I wish the ones I watch speed by our dock had your insight - especially since the previous owners and now us do what we can to make our dock fish friendly (trees on the bottom of the dock and large security light on the end of the dock). I hope some of them see this post and realize the consequences of their boat wake. It is expensive to repair docks damaged by unnecessary boat wakes. By the way, bass boats are not the only offenders...

That said, I have talked to some of the nicest people during our first year on the lake. I hope to talk to and meet many more in the future! I am on my way there now for a long weekend. Cheers!

Cricket, What part of the lake are you on? We are up by Stemley bridge area, just north of it on the right. I'd love to fish around your dock. Glad to have you around, we are always looking for new friends around here. We are all going to try and get together this summer.

Surely you are joking. A 1oz lead ? That could kill a person in a moving boat. I love to fish but this might be a little extreme. I am not sure how you do things in Ga. but in Alabama you might receive some return, it would also be lead.

Steve,

We live on the Talladega side in Country Club Estates. Our house is at the beginning of the big slough in the neighborhood. Everyone seems to know about our dock as we have fishermen around all hours of the day and night. The lady we bought the house from said some have told her that they have won tournaments fishing around our dock. At any rate, check out the fishing and let me know. I am learning to fish so I hope the hype is true!
