Made it over to the lake for some fishing on Saturday and Sunday, and I'm pleased to report that the bream are finally starting to bite. We have been trying them for the last month or so, but it was slow going. This past weekend we were able to find lots of small pockets holding 5-10 fish each. The bluegill seem to be in the backs of creeks very shallow or any area that water would run off into the lake making it a shallow sandy area. Didn't really see them bunched up on beds, but definitely starting to congregate. Also found a few small pockets of Shellcracker, but they were a lot less reliable. Bluegill hitting crickets, and Shellcracker on worms dragging the bottom.

Catfish were also plentiful, as we have been consistently catching eating size catfish off the dock. Also ran across some fellas jug fishing for them, who had absolutely filled up the boat. They were catching them near mud flats on the main channel. I will say though we didn't catch a single one while bream fishing(which we normally do), so not sure whats up with that.

So if you are ready to heat up the grease, or take some young-uns fishing. The next couple of months should be ideal.

Agree.

Fished this weekend and when the sun was not out - WOW. Brim/Blue Gill/Crappie were all over the place about 4' - 8' deep. However, when the sun was high and clear, the light switch went off. I only caught 5 cats but they wee good size the whole weekend (mainly late evening). Put it this way - I ate good last night:::))))

Good luck to all....

What about the bottom side of the lake around Reel Island? Any one have any suggestions?
