90 Mercury.......

Motor was running good ..........skipped once..............backed off let it sit for a sec.........started going again skipped and just cutt off.......tried turning it over seemed like it was getting no fire.............got a tow from a nice couple. This was Saturday night got up Sunday after church tried turning it over.................... no fire. Didn't touch it again until Monday morning when I thought I would unhook the battery hopeing it may be reset the computer ( if ihas a computer) and it did runs fine now..............my question what the heck happened????????

I had a similar problem with my Mercury. It would run but when you accelerated it would skip and lose power. It was a coil assembly. My motor has a coil pack for ech cylinder. Hope this helps.
