Oil Injection Tank Leak

50HP Merc. The oil injection tank is leaking around the bottom fitting for the cable to the "Low Oil" warning buzzer. It is a poor design, cheap fitting, and I don't want to replace it with the same design.
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks

BassTracker Dealer in B'Ham says never had the problem before, don't know a fix, just replace it with the same crap.
Mercury Outboards online won't even acknowledge the oil tank, just find a dealer and order a new motor.
Wonder if Yamaha/Suzuki/Honda have similar problems and admit it!!
Next boat?? Honda!!
