Have one that works only when turned on. Is there one I could add so it will take care of business if it storms and boat is unattended for a period of time? Would appreciate rec. of brand/type etc. Have 18 ft I/O bowrider.

Yup.....Havent bought one in a while...but I guess you can still buy a float switch to hook up to yours....or you can just buy a new pump with a built in float...seems like one with a built in float is around 30 or 40 bucks...well worth the money...and you can pick one up just about anywhere.

Go to Waly World or any local marina/marine supply store and get a float switch. Easy to connect and works like a charm. Be sure to check it frequently to insure it works and it doesn't have a blockage or life jacket holding it down.
