I have not spent much time on Logan Martin, but was wondering if anyone knows how the depth is north of I20? I know that you will probably need to stay in the channel, but is there enough depth to run up the river in an inboard ski boat? In my past experience the best place to find smooth water for skiing has been the rivers.
Thanks

We ran up just past I20 last Friday maybe a few hundred yards and water was less than 10ft where we were.

I have never been that far but the stress of watching the depth finder would be no fun. I have an inboard also and was talking to a guy with a similar inboad and he said he lived a few miles up from I20 and said he never had a problem but he also said he grew up in that part.

good luck

Last summer, I was probably a mile, maybe less upstream of the hwy 78 bridge. I thought I was in the channel but I wasn't. Kicked up a good bit of mud but never ran aground and I was in a fairly small pontoon boat. No depth finder at the time. Like you said, the stress of constantly watching the depth finder would be just that. But I would love to cruise all the way to the dam sometime and had planned that for this year but the gas prices have got me down. If it ain;t one thing it's another.

Peace,

I have been to the dam from Riverside in a pontoon boat and a bass boat. Its like anywhere else, just knowing the channel . There are a few tricky spots, like at broken arrow creek and a few other places . I found some of them the hard way. Get a map and take your time , you will learn it like all other parts of the lake. I usually make that trip at least once a year , its a nice ride.

I skied for years from Lock 4 past Kikers bend. Main channel tends to stay left going up river. Only problem (maybe a plus) is it tends to get fairly isolated the futher up river you go. Less boats and most probably reduced cell coverage in case of mechanical trouble. I've been towed back from near Kikers bend to Riverside - it's a long trip. Good luck.
