O.k. The bet is on.. I have agreed to meet 8 at his house around 9am. 10-02-08 and repair his boat. He is driving down tonight 10-01-08 so that he can meet me. The bet is $100 that I can repair the boat, and collect service/repair bill, or pay him $100 and go home with my tail between my legs. : ( This should be very interesting. Please, yall wish me luck! I think he is withholding information, but I can't say for sure.

Clearwater, you were correct suggesting the IAC. Funny thing, when I got back from the parts house with the IAC 8 came out and told me of your post! It took awhile to figure it out. The ECU was reading and the IAC sending the proper counts, and the IAC was operating within its peramiters although at the extreme upper limits of its range. The IAC counts and percentage values even changed properly when rpms were increased, and would hold the desired idle rpm of the ECU. I tried to erase the sensor fault IAC code sereral times and it would not go away. Kept coming back as an "Inactive" (as opposed to active) code. 8's 5.0ltr has the PCM555 controler, and that made test a lot easier from the laptop. Was a fun trip, and certainly great to meet 8, his wife and 3 dogs. This has been fun!

I am not worried - I have an electronic fence (force field) around my house.
CAT - it is a little early for me to winterize - we come year round so let me know if you will be making a second round.

CAT it's an old 86 model. It was on a clipper when bought new and was hardly ever ran, I mean like 40 hours. It has been well kept but when I got the old boat when the man passed away I put it on a 24' pontoon boat. before the pontoon i ran it a couple of times to make sure all was well and it ran great but now it doesn't seem to open up once you hit about half throttle there is no difference all the way to wide open.........other than the gas consumption
