I want to ask you about striper fishing on other areas of the lake. My place is up past Real Island, and I was wondering if you know if the stripes venture up that way. I have never run into any up there, although I generally do not fish the most striper friendly areas of my end of the lake. I suspect that conditions are not ideal up where I am, but I was just wondering where on the Little Kowaliga side one might find stripes.

I grew up fishing on that side of the lake but not really for stripers. We do catch a lot of fish during December in the Willow Point area all out in front of the golf course. As the water begins to warm the fish will begin to move back further into the surrounding creeks like parker, chapman, etc. and you can find them staging off of long points and where the bait is. I pulled a couple of 20 pound fish about a month ago up around needle eye. Try looking around Nero's point and in that area as the that is really a place with a lot of changes in structure as well as some good deep water. With that being said, you are not too far from some very good fishing in the summer months! During the summer you can quite often find fish at or around the Kowaliga bridge as well as some of the long points that lead out into the creek channel before you get to it. I am sorry I am not much help on this end of the lake but I do think that there are stripers down there and you may be at an advantage since there are not many people that I know of that fish for them on that side of the lake it is just like anywhere else and takes time to learn what they like to do in that area at different times of the year.

Thanks for the info. I have trolled around Nero's a few times for bass, and there are a few other long points between Real Island and Kowaliga that I will occasionally hit, but I have never caught stripes there. Plenty of spots and white bass, but that is it. In fact, the only time I have run into stripes on the lake has been around the Narrows and that cut up by Veazey's. I don't venture past Real Island much these days, however. I don't feel safe in the big water parts of the lake in my patched up jonboat.
