I'm looking at a 2000 model seadoo jet boat, but it has the old 2 stroke merc in it, and not the 4 stroke new rotax. Good cylinder compression has been documented, and the oil pump replaced. I'm just not familiar enough to know if I should stay away from this or not.

Any thought on the 2000 merc crusier engine in a seadoo jet boat?

Need to get your terms correct I think??? Never seen a Mercrusier in a Sea Doo?? Does it have an outdrive? Or is it a jet pump system? Mercury Sport Jet??

I think most will agree that these type of boats have not been real popular due in part to high fuel burn and lousy ride. I dont know how big the one you are looking at is,but most in those years are smaller boats. If the oil pump was replaced, what damage was done to the engine when the original one failed. That is the other problem with these boats,,pump failure. Most have gone to premixing and bypassing the oil pump so they know the oil is in the gas, not the oil tank. By the way, if you are looking for a nice boat to buy, I have a fully restored 24 foot Mastercraft Maristar for sale. If interested drop me an email.
