Hey Cat, does anybody at your shop repair stringers? Got some rotten ones and would like to replace them all with foam... I think that's what all the new boats have. Just got an '86 Supra Sunsport that needs some serious TLC along with a 351W re-power. Not sure the condition of the Trans. but if y'all pull the engine to rebuild can you tell the functionality of the trans. without the engine running? Thanks, Sam

That sounds like some serious money you are about to spend. Maybe a good time to stand back and take a look at the big picture. I'll be glad to look at it for you.

If CAT does not do floors and stringers and you are looking for someone to do it for you, look in Lake Martin Living March edition under Boat Repair to get my number and location.

Houseboat, is it possible to just repair a section of stringers or does the whole thing have to be removed and replaced? I think I only have a few inches to a foot of rotted stringers

I will have to say though that my business lies with CAT. He has done work for me before and does an excellent job. As soon as I get the time I am going to bring it to him.

If the stringers are rotten in a small portion of the floor and the rest of the stringers are in the same compartment, I would expect the rest of them will have to be replaced in the very near future. In all the boats I have done in the last year, they all had to be split and the floor, stringers, and transom had to be replaced. They should be good for another 20 years if taken care of. Hope you are up and running real soon.
