had my boat on Lainer (georgia) winterized. Guys told me just check oil, start it up, check temp and ready to go. The anti freeze they put in was ok for lake and it would simply flush itself out once started. My first winter with the boat. Does that sound right to you guys? I guess the battery is 50/50 if it works.

thanks

LG

When you crank it up, look around real in the engine compartment. Sounds logical to me.

I'm a little more anal about summerizing my boat.
When winterizing the boat, did they:
Do a complete service, oil change, fuel filters, service outdrive, check belts, etc?
If so, great.
If not, because of the crappy fuel we use today, change fuel filter, change oil, service the foot, at the minimums.

I've seen some boats so called winterized when all they did was remove the block and exhaust manifold plugs and called it done.

I do a complete service to my boat when I winterize and and change the oil again before the start of the season. I don't run synthetic oil in my boat and the oil will break down during the winter. I was taught 30 years ago to change oil in my cars every 3000 mile OR every 90 days. The oil will start to sludge up and a lot cheaper to keep fresh oil in my boat than repairs. I have never had engine damage to any of my cars or boats following that advice.

Hope this helps. Have a great time this season.
