I am planing to fill two 500 gallon gas tanks for the boating season. It should last most of the summer. One tank is steel and the other is aluminum. Do you know of any down side to this?

Not that I can think of. Probably a good idea to get a water seperator for the delivery hose though. I don't think the fuel will spoil too bad during the summer. You may want to keep the tanks in the shade so that you want have so many heat cycles and create more moisture than normal. I would by a good grade of fuel if I were you. Although, I'll go on record as saying "I would not prefer to fuel my boat with your fuel if stored for long period of time". Just my .02 worth, and your Scarab engine is pretty mild and should be fine. I have your dealer list also.

It best be in an underground approved storage tank ok'd by ADEM.
I would advise you notifying your insurance company that you are planning this. Should something happen, leaks, explosion, etc. they will not pay the claim. I don't think the savings would be worth the risk if something happened. If there were a leak and went into the ground, it would cost millions to clean up.

how do construction guys with the skid tanks handle this problem? also what if the 75 gallon tank on my boat springs a leak? or the 20 gal tank on the pontoon boat causes an explosion? doesn't everybody who has gas in any tank have the same problem? and how about those 500 gal propane tanks I see everywhere.

btw it is not just the savings. it is finding a marina open on Mondays, for that matter it is about finding a marina within a reasonable distance of madwin creek now that Marty's and Bay Pine are closed
