How difficult is it to replace the steering cable on a 3.0ltr Alpha Drive in a 18ft boat?

That is like asking "How hard is it to get laid?"

It depends on who you are and who you are trying to lay!

We must vote that answer to Bigfoot for best answer. LMAO. It's not too hard. One thing to remember..... It is a "Steering Cable"... Without it, you can not steer or guide the boat. IF you do it wrong (or half axx) and it comes loose/fails/breaks or whatever. You will suddenly be out of control, or worse, like take a hard turn one way or the other and pitched outta the boat. Only then could you be thankful for wearing your "Kill switch". (If you put it on to began with). And if you did not, you may get run over by your own boat! Not being a smart axx. My .02 worth! Take it to a shop.

I agree with CAT. Somethings are worth paying for.

Now, you've got me worried about the marina mechanic who replaced my steering cable last year. He did order the wrong cable the first time?? Can I assume that, if connections at both ends are tight, that all is well?

You can be assured, I will check it for you. It is not hard to replace. Just needs to be done properly. Really can be done by anyone as long as they adjust/tighten/install properly. You will have a check list, and be good to go. Also, your stuff came in one box? It came today. See ya soon.
