I have caught a few off my dock with live minnows but open to any advice on how to best fish for them. Do artificial bates work? How best to rig?

Everybody has their preference of what they like to do. I like to throw an artificial 1/16 oz. chartreuce green jig. The crappie seem to be alittle deeper this year, so let it sink a few seconds
and very slowly retrieve it back. like the old saying goes: When you think you are fishing to slow , slow down.

there are all different colors and sizes to choose from but chartreuse is one of my favorite. you can also use 1/32 ounce jigs. you just have to play around with different things then you will get the hang.good luck

well if you have a pond without those doggone stripe in it i will be glad to fish it.i would catch a whole lot more if they would quit running the crappie out. it seems that theydo it everytime i start catching them good.but when you headed towards martin?

Probably going to Lake Hardin Saturday morning and then Martin on Sunday evening. Got to do somethings at the lake house early Sunday, then going to back the boat in the water that evening if plans work out. I figured I had better take the boat since you were going to catch all of the fish out.
