I have an old ('97) Sea Doo that I can't get started. It was winterized and as of today, has a new battery. It will not turn over. It is making no sound when starting up - not even a battery click. Almost like the key is not making contact or the starter is not engaging. Any ideas that I could do before I haul this thing to the shop? I really don't want to spend a lot of money on it, but it is mine and my dog's favorite ride!

Thanks!

lift the front hood and pull out the plastic storage box....inside the hull of the ski (I think) there will be
fuses in the side of a black plastic box..check to see if one is blown...if not, it could be the starter, or a electrical connection problem....may be posible it has fuses in the back part of the hull too....my memory not so good, and I've worked on too many different ones....one more thing, the red cable is hooked to the + side of the battery? I know it sounds silly, but I've saw em hook up backwards before...shoots a fuse in a instant.

Is this one of the units we winterized? They started right up when I was there! I'll call you today.

It is - the old yellow one. I pulled the fuses like psycho suggested and it does have a bad fuse. I'm going to the marina and get some replacements. Hopefully that will work. The other jet ski started right up. Do you have our phone numbers? Thanks!

did you scrape the connectors to the battery prior to installing the new one? if not you should give it a try. also you can test the fuses and if they are good (sometimes they look good but are not) just scrape the conectors on them and re-install.

I fowarded this thread to 'Tulip'. She is VERY upset that you called a lowly watercraft your 'favorite ride'. Shameful. She was hurt bad. She pointed out how you cane ride her year round, she doesn't have to be winterized or summerized, only the occasional oil change, she works hard for you, she assists you in your yard duties, and on top of that, she is just plain prettier than any seedoo.

I think she has valid points. You should go out right now and reassure her.

Gee, thanks, Swimmer! Just trying to get me in trouble? Actually, Tulip is quite fine with all this - she knows that the seedoo is my water ride and she is my Dirt ride! And, she also knows that while the seedoo provides a fast and furious ride, she is the easy, slow and comfortable ride.

But, here is the problem - my trophy husband read this and now HE's pi$$ed. How am I going to explain this one?

Was he under the impression that he was your favorite ride? lol
