Had a seadoo brought to me...1998 GTI. Said it had a vibration since they changed the engine a year or two ago. Its not out of alignment like I thought....still has a strong vibration with the driveshaft out....I've noticed thats its not a original seadoo engine...has PMC North America stamped on top of the head. I think that translates into ( made in china by 10 year old boy)lol. I've never ran into a engine with a vibration like this....Thanks for any help you can offer.

I am afraid that you are correct, those engines are copies of a Rotax engine ,made in China, Taiwan or some other unpronouncable asian country,I have had a few of them apart, the thing that really stood out was that they were .75 mm oversized bore which I don't quite understand ,any chances are that the crankshaft was not trued correctly or is now out of true, now either way its not good because it means a complete engine teardown and reassembly and at the least the crankshaft will have to be trued but more than likely it will just need to be replaced.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like the little money saved was expensive in the long run. At its age and condition, I dont think its going to be worth the fix..unless the owner says different.

thanks again, Psycho

We have a 97 Sea Doo - a few years back it vibrated very bad. Some of the bolts that secured the engine to (or in) the jet ski cavity were broken off and it allowed the engine to vibrate.

That is a possibility, also check the idle speed if you are not at 1500 rpms in the water or 3000 rpms out of the water it will vibrate like a paint shaker and you will think the world is coming to an end.

Psycho......lay $20 on CAT to figure it out. He will hook up his CAT dash and
pin point your Seadoo vibration. The CAT never fails.

Thanks for the offer cat, But you are too far away. Besides, this old ski is not worth spending much money on . I think wedoseadoo
is right that its the crank. I had already pulled the drive out so I knew the vibration was in the engine. since it had the vibration
from the time the engine was put it, I wondered if there was anything they got out of whack that would have caused it....other than a bad crank.

Cat, since you like speed, maybe you can drop in a 4.3 with a mercruiser outdrive? lol
