Yes, on floats with night crawlers.

I've caught a few on floats as well. 20 feet of 15# line with a number 2 hook using pink worms. I'm not doing as well as I think I should, catching around 10 per 3.5 hour trip with about 30 floats out. What's your set up and are you doing any better? I'm new to this so any info is appreciated.
I also caught two nice Shellcrackers one day on the same set up.

About same deal, hi viz (orange if available) pieces of swim noodle cut 16-18", 20-25' of cheap bulk 20# line, fairly big sinker, oz or so, on the bottom, with the hook about 18" up from the weight. I use mainly 'circle hooks' for lip vrs gut hookups. Palomar knot highly recommend. Generally fish in about 20 feet of water. Night crawlers are the best, hotdogs work. Prepared catfish bait or chicken liver work as well, but both are stinky and hard to keep on the hook.. Good luck, I catch them throughout the summer..

I have not done this type of fishing in a few years. When I did, I would use two different color floats and use different baits on each. It would help establish which bait the fish preferred.

Cut bait (bream) often worked well but it would also catch a lot of turtles. Chicken gizzards are sometimes a good bait, and it is cheap and stays on the hook. Pieces of shrimp are good bait but on the expensive side. I agree pink worms are the best type of live worms to use on the Lake for fish.

I will "salt" an area every so often. Get a bag of sweet feed. Add seed to a 5 gal bucket and soak with lake water for a few days in the sun. Cast it around the area you want to fish. Really draws in the cats. You will catch a ton of fish the next few days. You could overfish doing this too much in any one area.

Where'd you buy your worms at? I've got a barren, ie wormless catalpa tree in my yard. Been meaning to get some worms but one of those things you just keep putting off. Sounds like you had some serious fun.
