Lake is 465.25 as I write this. Where is your RV?

Not at Stemley Bridge it's not. The level at the start of this site is probably pretty close. 464.25. I am surprised though with all the rain we have had. They must be doing a very good job of managing the flow. Almost every litle creek and pond I have seen in the last 3 days is well out of it's banks. I was expecting 465+ today but so far, so good.

Peace,

I will. Kinda thinking that moving the boat idea last week was pretty profound now. Glad I did it.

Lake Allatoona, upstream from us in GA, is up 8 feet since
yesterday and is 4 or 5 feet about flood stage. That is all coming this way soon so we may see the high water in a couple of days. And that is assuming that the rain lets up. But I do agree, they've done an excellent job with the levels so far.

I've been here since Friday night. I was surprised that the lake level on Sunday was lower than Saturday. It's still about the same right now. I'll be shocked if that doesn't change in the next 24 hours. The rain has cooled the water temp some. It's downright refreshing.

RBS - How have you been? you have been quiet this summer..... but then again most everyone has been.

Hey Fr8! I'm super. Been spending a lot of time at the lake since my next door neighbor got wireless high speed and I can work while I'm here. That plus my daughter started Tulane this fall and now I don't have kids at home anymore (boohoo). I've done a ton of skiing.

When I come and stay my I park my boat at my neighbors pier so it's spent a lot of time in the water. Back in July, during a really bad storm the whole right side of the boat got scratched up when the bumpers washed up and the boat banged up and down on the pier. I was sick. It didn't occur to me to call my insurance company until about a week ago (duhhh). So I met the guy from Skiers Marine on Friday and he's getting an estimate together. I wasn't planning on coming 'cause the weather was supposed to be so crummy. But when he called and said he could meet at Rivers Edge at 5p I decided to come and stay. No skiing though. Didn't want the boat sitting out in the rain. So swimming has been my only exercise.

I'm heading back to the Ham today but I'm coming back tonight or tomorrow morning. THEN I'll get the boat and hopefully get a couple of days skiing in before the weather gets rotten again.

Right now the water is like glass and the lake level STILL hasn't risen. I can't believe it. Usually LM is the first big lake to flood.

Good to hear from you RBS, I am always jelous that you get to play more than me.....

FYI - Altoona is 10.53ft above full pool........ So does anyone know how long it takes to make it down stream?

Just from what I have seen, about 72 hours. But I would have bet the house on us being at least a foot or two above full by today. Glad I didn't make that bet.

Welcome back RBS! I'm just across the bridge if you need a boat driver. But Steve has already called me a wimp for taking my boat to it's winter home already. And he was right!

Peace,

I think we have bragged on Al Power TOO soon. After a good rain we have a 1 foot water level drop.

I talked to the other Steve that lives in GA and he said that the Coosa below Altoona is 12 feet above the banks and a real mess.

Alabama Power has said we will not be affected but where is the water going to go?

Good question. I don't have an answer of any kind. But a good question.

Has anybody driven over the dam? They must have ALL the flood gates open. I swear the water level when I left today - was lower than it was yesterday afternoon.

Thank you TC - I may take you up on that sometime. I'm down 2 drivers now (son at Auburn, daughter at Tulane).

My daughter texted me and told me she'd joined the Tulane Ski/Wakeboard Club...makin' her mom proud. The only thing I had to say to her about it was - Honey? You DO know they have alligators down there? Me personally, I prefer not to ski in water with carnivorous wildlife.

Altoona is now 13' above full pool and 3ft higher since midnight.

Everything else is just right at normal. APCO said in the paper we will not flood so I guess we should not worry because APCO is in control.......right?

Everyone take care............

I've heard from 2 different people traveling from ATL to BHM yesterday - over FIVE hours due to detours from roads and bridges being under water.

Just drove over the dam....some water being released
but nothing out of the ordinary at all. I was surprised
as I thought I would see huge amounts going through. But
it was not the case.
