I hate to see anyone have bad times and I know some have not faired well with all the rain and flooding.

In the end, thank goodness for the rain. Now if they won't let it all out again.

I think the COE will start dumping water once everything dries out a bit. I don’t think there will be enough storage capacity for the spring rains.
So, well everyone is excited about the lake being up, this is the wrong time of the year for the lake to be up, so they will have to lower it again just as fast as they can.

Can you imagine the mess they would have had if this had hit while the lake was full.

Have you guys seen the lake level at Alatoona? It is 10 feet over full. There is a lot of damage going on there.

West Point Dam is the real concern right now though. That lake is over full and there is much more water coming. I remember a few years back where they were worried about the dam bursting because it was overfull. I think it will be a big concern again now. They have the dam open now as far as it will go, but the water level is still rising down there. It will be interesting to see how it goes. If that dam goes, kiss our water good bye for sure.

I guess I don't understand about how they determine when Lanier can and cannot be full. I recall a stretch of time several years ago when the lake was above full pool for months. They didn't seem to be worried about it or they would have corrected it.

So does this mean that full pool is not the optimum level anymore, except perhaps for only short spans of time?

We have no choice but to move our dock back to proper position. Hasn't been there in a couple years. But even as we move it I feel in my gut they will drop the level as soon as they can. But I have to wonder how they can even consider opening the gates with West Point in danger.

Well, don't move it too fast. It's already going down as we speak. We won't hit full pool unless we have another anomalous weather situation. I should be able to stay dry on the way to my dock by the weekend.
