Allowed me to get the lower hull finished up today before the rains. Now it's just buff and polish.

Looks good! Are you going to leave it in the water year round or take it out each time. I was wondering about bottom paint. Are you going with I/O?

NC2, if you go with I/O I have complete drop in engine. One is 350 cu.in. Small block with 0 time. Other is 454 with 200 hours.

Hey House, I will be taking it out each time. It's only 24' so not to bad to lug behind my truck.

Hey Cat, I sure want to put twin 4 or 6 Cyl diesels in there. But I am not to that point yet. Also I am not sure what I need for a Out drive on a diesel. I am sure they are like a car and geared much different than a gas drive. Never fooled with em in a boat before.

I will give you a call as that aspect gets closer.

I was just concerned about you getting blisters again. I knew you needed an epoxy sealant if it was going to be left in the water.
Gibson puts twin small diesels in their houseboats but they are inboard v-drives. Mercruiser has units with cummins and yanmar diesels with Inboard/outboard.

Yea thanks for the thought Houseboat. I just hate to put bottom paint on because It can put someone off that may want to buy it. They think you're hiding something under that ablative.

For now I plan to just pull it to the lake or the river and enjoy it for 1,2 or 3 days at a time. After it's all hashed out and it proves reliable I may take it on some long runs maybe down to the coast for a week @ PCB but no year long slip keep. She's too rare as boat #23 to leave unattended in a slip.

If you are talking about going down the Alabama, I have been on 3 houseboat trips part way down from Wetumpka and one all the way to Mobile in a ski boat. Love it!
Sorry about getting off the maintenance subject.

Aaaa no problem, I would like to speak with you about that some time. Never been down the Alabama and would like some pointers.

I did trip down to Mobile one year. Fun ride. Left Mont. at 8:00 am and pulled up beside the USS Alabama in Mobile at 5:30pm. Fuel was a bit cheaper in 2000. I was in a 29' Scarab with twin supercharged small blocks. Next time I do that, I want A/C for comfort. ;)

We went with the Dozier group from Montgomery Marina in 1988 and it took 2 days. We went in our houseboat in 93 to Millers Ferry and it took 3 days to get there. You might have been the boat that almost turned us over on our 2000 trip! just kiddin! You can read a story of our 2000 trip at www.alabamariverrats.com, click on River and scroll down to "Beautiful River".

I would love too, maybe someday after I retire and rebuild my gibson.
