I am getting ready to purchase property on the lake. Have been lurking on the forum for over a year. I can't afford the million dollar homes and I don't want anything that big. I am a nature lover, enviornmental activist, enjoy fishing, trolling, and quiet. I can tolerate the loud boats and jet skis but don't want to be in the thick of those activities. I can be sociable but also enjoy solitude and do not care to share docks or piers as the condos do. Searching the real estate pages I found twenty some houses that might suit my needs. This will be a summer home for the next five years and then a retirement home. I am looking for sincere advice from folks who have lived on the lake. Places I have looked up have addresses of mostly Jackson's Gap and Dadeville. If you were looking for a retirement home in a clean area that you would love for the rest of your life and you wanted to stay under 350,000 where would you look? I would really rather get something for half of that and fix it up. Anyhow, I have read that there were water quality problems in part of the lake at one time. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks,
Hopefully a new neighbor
