gave you good details. Lots of ifs here, but if the foot is exposed and if you have some water seeping into the foot over the summer, the water could freeze and damage the foot. Solution is to change the foot oil before winter sets in to remove any water.

Only other issue is having the foot in the water all winter. I always raise my foot out of the water during the boating season to help avoid water seeping into the foot. Take my pontoon out each winter.
