I went fishing for the first time in several months last Friday. Much to my disappointment I found several trees that my family and I have fished for several years (since 1990) gone. Gone to development. My favorite treetop was one very close to our house that my mother and I, several years ago spent a whole day sinking Christmas trees around. Gone to development of new huge weekend homes. That is one memory gone! This was a spot close enough for my elderly parents to go and fish by themselves. I wonder how long it took the developer to destroy what took my mom and I a day to build. To those of you who are thanking Ala. Po. CO. Russell, and the State for giving you your lake back. You have fought the wrong battle. I am not sure what lake you think you have back. The lake we grew to love was the one where everyone waved at each other no matter what boat you were in. A lake where you could find a slough, with trees down to fish around. The lake that you are so proud to have back is one with no lack of development. Development means more people, more boats and more wakes. I hope you are happy. Once again YOU FOUGHT THE WRONG BATTLE.
P.S. if you have anything negative to say about this post keep it to yourself. I am not in the mood.
