Actually the squirrels love it. We have forged iron clay flower pot holders which attach to our deck railing and extend off the deck.. The squirrels use them just like divers would a diving board. They hit those things and with the spring of the pot holder launch their bodies from our deck to the nearby trees. It is a beautiful acrobatic act to watch. I have never seen a squirrel miss yet.
