Both an address and email address for James McIndoe, Chief, Water Division at ADEM were included in previous posts. We attempted to send an email requesting a public hearing, but the email was rejected by the ADECA Postmaster. We verified the email address as posted and sent the message a second time without attachments and it was still rejected. We will send a letter tomorrow and we suggest that everyone else does the same. A public hearing would allow us to address a number of issues, including the actual safety of the water in different areas of the lake. We are concerned about how significant the discharge actually is to us at this time - can our grandson still swim in our bay, are the fish OK to eat, etc. In addition to solving to problem for the future environment at Lake Martin, these are questions that we all must have on our minds. Now for Lifetime Laker. Your remarks deserve a response. These "weekend warriors" as you call them pay their taxes as all others do that own property on this lake. I have owned property on this lake for 17 years and been very fortunate to have lived here since 1998. We also live in the Sandy Creek area and I will give you a hint. I stepped out on the porch this morning and the stench coming from the water smelled like an open sewer pipe. Would you like that? I sincerely hope not, because we have all worked hard for what we have and try to keep it that way.
