My only concern would also be any liability. My dock has nothing on it to be left unlike it was found. Our neighbors' children also like to use our dock - probably because it is a 2-level dock and they like to fish and jump off the high platform (although, I am afraid if they did it now, they would break a leg when they hit the hardpack! - I'll know more about that when I get there this afternoon). We have some of those heavy-duty hard plastic aderondack (sp?) chairs and we found one of those broken and upside down in the shallows once. And year before last, when the children were playing on our dock (we did happen to be in attendance), one of them took a step on the top platform and his leg went right through the board (it didn't LOOK rotten!). Luckily, we are on very good terms with our neighbors and the child wasn't seriously injured. We did replace the dock that year, though. Again, that could have been a huge liability issue... You might want to talk to your homeowner's carrier...

Everyone have a wonderful holiday. If you own a boat (I don't), I hope you can get it in the water. For myself, I hope it's not too long a walk past my pier to get wet!
