"Crusher run is also referred to as dense grade base. It has a lot of water in it and that is what causes it to set up like concrete as it cures out. You do not have to use a prime with crusher run because it is a water base. In Georgia they have a lot of clay and have to use a prime to prevent the water from seeping through the base material. The key would be to get it compacted well. If it's some small areas, you can rent a small tamp to compact this. FYI : )
