Mack, I understand how you feel, back in the late ‘70’s I would take my 12 foot aluminum boat from Sandy Creek to The Rock to sightsee, to Hawaii Island to grill venison burgers for lunch, and to Blue Creek to fish. It was not however the big/fast boats that took that away from me; it was the amount of boat traffic. Back then we could fish the coves and shallows across the slough from The Cabin, have a great time, and throw some fish on the grill. Now, the shoreline is ringed with houses and piers. As much as I long for “the good old days”, it is not fair for me to deny people some of the joys I have experienced on Lake Martin. What you describe as nuisances are not the boats, but the boat operators. We all hope for more considerate people on the lake, but there is no way that we can legislate it. If I do not like the drone of bass boats at dawn and wake battering my pier, do we ban two cycle motors, and boats capable of creating wake more than ten inches high? I fear that this ban is a precedent that will be followed by others. I hope I am wrong.
