While I hate seeing the level drop, I have to tell you that you are wrong Bob. They are releasing the "required" water that is mandated. Not a drop more. Since they have to release, they do generate power at the same time. That also keeps your electric rates in the top ten in the whole country. It is not a need to generate power and that is causing the release ... as I said it is the other way around. What they are doing is releasing the "required" amount during peak demands since that is when everyone is running their A/C.

The got the variance to raise the level early in the season in case the drought continued, in consideration of the recreational use. If they hadn't, they would still be required to release and we would be in much, much worse shape. Just look back at last year. We got to 486 in May and then down from there. At least we held until mid June and hopefull we do not get below 484 until at least September. That will carry us through most of the season.

I am there every weekend and there is very little boat traffic even with water ... so i am sure gas prices have a good bit to do with that.
