We hear a lot about background checks and how wonderful they are. So here we have someone who was kicked out of the military for abusing a spouse and admitting to intentionally cracking a infants skull. but someone dropped the ball at the Air Force and did not put him on the list. Heard today that in 2012 he escaped a mental institution after "death threats to military superiors" , police were called to a bus station , escaped a mental institution and caught at a bus station reported as " a danger to himself and others" - so this nutburger beat his wife, cracked a skull, smuggled guns on base, threatened his officers, locked up for at least a year - and was still able to pass his background checks.
Heard another disturbing statistic. Somewhere between 20 and 80% of people who should be on the list to not be able to purchase guns are not on the list. If that is true as little as 1 in 5 people (or more) who deserve to be stripped of gun rights fall through the administrative cracks/human error.
But the solution we always here is that we have to close the gunshow loopholes and more background checks. Seems that we need to get the reporting side fixed more so then having our children and grandchildren background checked.
