Carlson - “As I read through these emails, I was impressed by the picture being painted. Obviously this country has always problems but there is always hope and optimism. Guess we as individuals of this great country have a choice to see the future brightly or dimly. Never underestimate the wisdom of American citizens. Otherwise how do we get out of bed each morning?”
Yes… the framers of the Constitution provided for hope… multiple mechanisms to protect ourselves from tyranny and governmental oppression. But, I admonish that the dissolution of The Republic is a slow and insidious project. We Americans are ambitious and respond to impending danger with rapidity… “minute men.” The process whereby our enemies would undo us is slow and methodical… measured in decades and centuries. Our enemy is plotting against our great grand children. We are defending against a “clear and present danger.”

“…have a great Thanksgiving!”
And so, to you and your family.

GoneFishin – “Until there is a tornado that flattens Stillwater and the the Right will scream "where is the government....where is FEMA"...big government sucks until you need it. NO EPA to help protect pristine Lake Martin. The Florida Panhandle is majority Conservative yet they scream where is the Government.?” (sic)
Huh?
Please let me know where you got this information. I know of no outcry from the right in any of the cases you cite. FEMA is an emergency management agency… not an insurance company. The EPA does protect Lake Martin (Clean Water Act, Priority Pollutant List, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, etc.) No one from the right has taken any step(s) to abolish those actions. (Please don’t blather – I am a Certified Environmental Specialist.)

Flyfisher – I’m sorry. I couldn’t get it into a 30 second sound bite.
