Considering all these European countries survived just fine without the EU I suspect the people are right on target with this. The issue for them is whether their own elected officials can better represent them with the rest of the world over a group of elitist technocrats in Brussels. They want back their right to decide who will make their laws and to be able to hold them accountable. With the EU they get none of that and they rightly object to the notion. And Britian very wisely never bought into the Euro so they have their own currency. I suspect that if this goes well for them we will see other countries exit the EU and it may fall apart altogether.
