In every competition there is a winner and a loser and it was Georgia's night to win. They outplayed Alabama. As much as Saban hates to lose, I think he was okay losing to Kirby. Losing 3 key players, one before and 2 last night didn't help the game for Alabama. What I liked was that Saban modeled good sportsmanship, which seems to be getting hard and harder to find.
With regard to Saban's salary, the sports teams bring a lot of money into the University. Saban and his wife are very involved in the community and in chariable endeavors. That's why I have laughed when people have said over the past few years that Saban would take another coaching job- they are deeply ingrained in the community, he has a tremendous recruiting record, he has a primo facility and he gets paid a huge sum of money, with bonus' to bring certain trophies home. The only thing that has puzzled me is his Mercedes dealerships - I don't know if they are tax write-offs or if he bought into them for his kids. It can't be because he needs more money.
