I guess you want to see US troops committed to long term peace keeping operations in foreign countries? Is that how you want to see our military used?
The Powell Doctrine says that you should never commit forces until you have a clear mission and a clear exit strategy.

I'm not sure why you keep making this link to Obama and the crime rate in Chicago. He's not the mayor there or the chief of police. Washington DC has a high crime rate too -- do you hold the President responsible for that? The truth is that major inner cities have high crime rates, but I don't think you can blame their Congressional representatives.
