GF: You and many others make the same intellectually dishonest mistake in all this class envy nonsense. I bold this so you don't gloos over the point: YOU ASSUME THAT INCOME IS STATIC AND THAT PEOPLE DON'T MOVE FROM ONE LEVEL TO ANOTHER!! That is clearly not the case and I am a perfect example. When I moved to Georgia oin 1988 I took a job making $26,500 per annum. Each year my income increased such that I moved from what at the time was a lower middle class income to where I am today. You graduate from high school or college and you aren't going toimmediately make $100K. You drop out of school and you most likely never will. You don't learn English when you come to this country and you will never achieve like you could with adequate communicnation skills. You abuse alcohol and drugs (unless you are an actor or musician) and you will likely never see a rise in income.

Obviosuly there are people who never rise from lower income levels and I am sure there are a thousand reasons they will give. I can only tell you from my experience that in my life I have never seen a highly motivated, hard working individual willing to get an education not see improved financial conditions. I would venture to say that most people in the $40K-$70K range believe in the American dream simply because they made that income transition through hard work, risk taking, etc. And I can certainly understand why someone who did not get an education, who does not understand English, who does not apply themselves at work would think the American dream isn't for them. That is one huge disservice of government schools and liberalis, to convince people that they do not have equal opportunity. No, in fact liberalism desires equal outcome regardless of the level of effort and we know from centuries of trying this that it is possible, but the outcome is equal misery, not equal prosperity.

Why do you think Democrats want to tax "income" and not wealth? Your stats provide the answer. The last thing Demcrats want is for people to rise to income levels where they might actually understand the negative impact of taxation and stop voting for Democrats (or at least welth-redistribution Democrats). In a sick sort of way Democrats provide and incentive to remain at lower income levels, no taxes, federal handouts, etc. It is also why they are planning to try to abscond with our 401k and IRA money. They have realized that having a majority of Americans in the investor class will take away one of their favorite vote-buying targets, "big" business, Much harder to scnadalize businesses to buy votes when most people rely on the profits and success to provide for their retirement because they realize Social Security will not be there for them.
