with a vengeance. Lots of new polling data that show that seniors are paying very close attention to the Obamacare debate and are actually reading the various bills. Rasmussen has approval now at only 41% which is a new low and the internals show most of the losses come from seniors.

One of the primary reasons the Senate Finance Committee whacked the public option is their fear of a backlash from seniors. Seniors simply and correctly do not believe Obama when he says he is going to cut $500 billion in waste and fraud from Medicare. They know the truth that the only efficiency government can extract from Medicare is through rationing. And the optimum place to ration health care is with the demographic group that uses the system the most, our seasoned citizens.

This is further confirmed with the government media now churning out all sorts of allegedly helpful articles with titles like Pulling the Plug on Grandma and More Health Care Is Not Always Good For You. They might be old, and they might have been duped into taking a hope and a chance on change but they aren't stupid. I heard a very simple explanation from someone why Dems have never been able to get their wet dream of socialized medicine passed, and that is most people are relatively happy with their health care and their health insurance (which is borne out in numerous polls). Not that there aren't some areas needing repair but they do not want to throw out the baby with the bathwater.
