Thanks for all the suggestions... This past Sunday afternoon I ended up taking apart the pump. It had mud collected in it from years of water particulates collection. I cleaned up the inside and the impellor would spin freely. I did not notice any cracks or broken peices. After assembling it, I plumbed it back up and connected power and successfully primed it and got it pumping again with good pressure. I believe in this case the mud may have been the problem getting it primed and pumping. The foot valve hangs over a drop-off several feet off the bottom of the lake so it took a long time to collect that much mud from water particulates. It makes me wonder what kind of particulate filter can be used... If I have to do this only once every 10 years, it is not really that big of deal but at least I didn't go and replace a perfectly good pump for no reason.
