There was-- probably still is-- a certain segment of the lake population who were convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that the only reason the lake comminuty was seasonal was because the water was too ow for boating in the winter.

Try as you might, you couldn't convince them that school, extra-curricular activities (college football), and the weather had more to do with it than the water level. Nope, the only thing that could convince some of them was a nice, brisk boat ride on a 40-degree day! Something like that tends to turn their thinking around.

Still, there are some idiots out there who remain convinced that th elake would be as crowded in January as it is in July; if the water were only eight feet deeper.
