Interesting how they blame the availability of the knives and not the kids themselves or their parents or the way that they were raised. No mention that the girls actually stole the knives to do the crime.
One time when I was a very young supervisor, I found out that two of my employees were cheating on overtime and I turned them in. I heard through the grapevine that they intended to corner me in the ladies room and stab me early in the morning to get revenge. So this isn't exactly a new way of dealing with problems. It's just gotten more bold in thinking that they can do this in public with a lot of people around. I'll bet if you interviewed the parents, they would tell you that they were "good" girls and would never do something like this - and find a way to blame the victim.
