It was new from the factory with the same engine they raced in NASCAR. Inorder to qualify the engine for use in a race car, they had to sell 500 to the public. Used to drive it to the Varsity(drive in) in Atlanta. I would park it and go inside. When I came out the hood was usually open to check out the engine. Hoods has no lock back then. The engine, if you understand, had solid lifters, no power steering, and no air. It could get hot in the summer in Atlanta but it was fun to drive. 2 4 barrels and around 8 miles to the gallon. But premium was around $.34/gallon. which was around $.08/mile. Today, at $3.50 gallon, you need to get 43 miles per gallon to equal my cost of 8 cents per mile.
