Of course lipstick on a pig is a common saying but it defies common sense to say that Obama wasn't referring to McCain as the fish and Palin as the pig. My question is why at a time he is losing women voters in droves he would say anything so controversial? It just doesn't show good political instincts. So now all the headlines are about whether Obama was insulting Palin. Like her or not, hers is a compelling story, there are lots of aspects of her that will appeal to certain demographics (not all but broadly speaking) and the polls, every single one of them, shows the same thing. It was just plain dumb for Obama to have made the comment because while it plays very well to partisan crowds, those people are going to vote for him anyway. What he needs to do is carry a message that will appeal to the undecided voters. These kinds of issues take away from his "we need to get away from politics as usual", etc. message. I can't believe I am giving Obama advice........do you think he reads the Forum? I sure hope not! :-)
