OK, call me crazy but I think you guys need to look at how your political thinking has changed in recent years. We’re talking about the fact that many conservatives have thrown out their leaders, the same thinkers and doers that you guys have been telling us FOR YEARS were the best for the job. I didn’t agree with all those conservative leaders, but they were not idiots and failures.
The part of the conservative movement that I am talking about are those folks that want to cut all ties with previous GOP leaders… namely the folks that have been the wisest voices of your party for the longest time. How big does the list of Anti-Trump Republican Conserative leaders have to be for someone to say “whoa, we seem to have lost all sense of direction here”?
I get that you want change. I want change. We may disagree about what those changes are. But I’m pretty sure I don’t want armed insurrection in the streets, too. Just like you. There was a time when the Left thought the best changes would be by some sort of revolution, too. We were wrong.
Now it’s nothing short of a revolution that you are proposing in Donald Trump. He’s the revolutionary whose sole weapon will be that he has a “good brain” & total confidence in himself… and whose inexperience will surely be the most destructive revolutionary force possible. When I step back and look at it….. you’re talking internment camps, disrupted trade partnerships & significant disturbance in all sorts of important ways, with severely increased racial tensions if he gets elected. Unpredictable defense partnerships, wacko dictators with nukes. Don’t you think this could require much more than a background in real estate & TV gives you?
Maybe his supporters don’t actually expect Trump to be able to perform at a Presidential level of leadership, ……certainly the most knowledgeable voices from your side of the aisle are trying to tell you he is not.
But I’m no longer sure his supporters even think that is a necessary skill set anymore. Their idea seems to be ‘let him disrupt things & let’s see what happens’, or letting Trump ‘shake things up’ without really examining what these policies might mean in on ground…
This is no way to elect a President.
