I don't see where a HUGE local fundraiser/entertainment venue has anything to to with over crowding properties, houseboats, go-fast boats, or anything like it for the long term effect! Boaters and spectators traveled from ALL OVER the Country to participate or witness the event. Really they did, and will. They come in for a few days, visit, spend money at local businesses, show what they want to whether it be a Bass Boat, Pontoon or whatever. Personally, I would love the week before, performing work for out of towners, and getting all of the local boats ready to go watch. Hosting displays, gatherings, etc. As would Jeff, Still Waters, Blue Creek, Russell Marinas, etc. Some of the go-fast boats are on tilt trailers, and pay $200 just to have someone pick up the boat with a fork lift and place it in the water. And of course, it has to be takin' out as well. Deposit another 200 bucks Ben. I'll bet Vinings, or Russell would love that revenue! Imagine all the local (and struggling) restaurants being packed for several days. NO VACANCY at Alex City Hotels. No vacant slips at Marinas for a week. Maybe a business has to hire a little extra help that week??? Anyway, I think this thread took a bad turn. Compare this to Aquapalooza! Nope, cause according to what I have read on this thread, there would be Live Bands, Huge raft-ups and property would be sold everywhere and we would be overcrowded. Hhhhmmmm. Overcrowded already in my opinion at times. "Is Lake Martin ever gonna have an event as big as LOTO". Nope, it would take years to develope it to that. However, on a smaller scale think of it this way. EM already speaks of speed and effeciency on his pontoon. I like go fast boats, but my Master Craft has a Corvette LT1 engine, and my new Cat isn't that fast. More Horsepower at a slower speed equals better fuel management ANY day. You read this stuff all the time. Sorry for the long thread.
Respectfully, Steve
