We are weekenders and put up 3 feeders every spring.  We always have a few hummers and exen a big ole woodpecker that hangs upside down on the feeder.  The sugar water does not go bad, it may ferment a little but the birds don't mind.  Something new this year, we have a pair of bluebirds that have nested in a planter on the deck.  4 or 5 eggs.
