Some family members of mine, as do we all, enjoy docking on an island to cook out with friends and family. This particular family loves turtle island. A couple of weekends ago they went to cook out. They were astonished at the amount of trash on this island. Mind you, they are not new comers to the lake. They spent a great deal of time cleaning up the island while observing a very friendly turtle. The next day they went back to again cook out, etc. The amount of trash on the island was worse than the day before. While they were again cleaning up the island, the father and one of his children discovered the turtle. Someone had driven a spike through his head onto a tree were he died. My intention is not to bring anyone down but to make everyone vigilant of the trash that is not welcome on the lake.
