Last summer, I was probably a mile, maybe less upstream of the hwy 78 bridge. I thought I was in the channel but I wasn't. Kicked up a good bit of mud but never ran aground and I was in a fairly small pontoon boat. No depth finder at the time. Like you said, the stress of constantly watching the depth finder would be just that. But I would love to cruise all the way to the dam sometime and had planned that for this year but the gas prices have got me down. If it ain;t one thing it's another.
