There are lubications points on most lifts.

It sounds like you are getting power. So, it is not an electrical problem. Therefore, your repair should be reasonable.

You can also check and see if the lift cables are corroded. This is an easy fix I helped my Brother do it. He used plastic coated cables when he replaced his.
