An Amazing Feat for a public utility!

Congratulations to Alabama Power for water control capability on Smith lake that is unprecedented. When a target is provided, their control systems are such that they could probably assist NASA in in placing a man/woman on the moon. It's as simple as controlling to target. Is that not amazing.

The level for the last 10 days averaged 499,19 feet with a standard deviation of o.074 feet. That means that with 99+% confidence their level control capability is from 498.97 feet to 499.41 feet, a delta of 0.44 feet. And what's amazing!!! This control capability was possible during tornado alerts in North Alabama and with 6 inches of rain within a two day period. Historically, a rainfall amount of this level would raise the lake level by 3 to 5 feet. TVA needs to consult with APC and ask for information on this new control capability.

The challenge to APC is now to assist homeowners on Smith Lake in the flood plan to eliminate the need for flood insurance. Floods are a thing of the past with the exotic computerized control systems used. I'm sure that some level of artificial intelligence is part of the control algorithm.

Just think!!  No more flood threats, FEMA can drop the demands for flood insurance, and APC can control to higher levels during the summer months with low variability. Thank you APC for this new technology.
