A friend from Tennessee sent this to me in an e mail. The Chairman of the Democratic Party in his county wrote this in May, 2010.
Why the Elephant is the Symbol of the Republican Party
When you consider it, you see that the elephant is the perfect representation of the Republican Party. When given its way, it creates a huge mess and is hell to clean up after. No other symbol would fit; it simply could not be otherwise. Take for example, the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf of Mexico has become the personal toilet of the Republican Party, British Petroleum, Transocean and Dick Cheney's Halliburton. Now any thinking citizen will understand immediately that this huge and quite preventable catastrophe is the result of Republican led, relaxed regulations of giant corporations which seem to feel it is their God-given right to plunder and destroy as long as there are profits to be made. Cleaning up after this Republican and business mess is going to be hell and expensive as well.
Thinking people can comprehend what has happened, but no Republicans have to actually think anymore since they have Fox News and Rush Limbaugh to do all that heavy thinking; all the Republicans have to do is parrot whatever their masters say. It is perfectly clear to all good Republicans that this must be Obama's fault because he is a Muslim terrorist, and a Socialist and a Communist and the anti-gun Anti-Christ. Some even believe he is in league with the Shia, the Sunni, the Jews and the Devil. But it has nothing to do with his African forebears, because we are not prejudiced. So this oil spill is just an accident and accidents will happen, even to our egregiously profitable and very safety conscious, environmentally sound, oil friends. But it is Obama's fault, even if it was an accident that the Christian leaders of BP could not in any way prevent, so help them God.
Now let's play a game. Let us suddenly jump back to November 2000, and Al Gore is running against George Bush, the Junior for President. We have been to the future and seen all that is to happen. We have seen the wars, the torture, the uncounted billions lost, Blackwater Corporation, soldiers electrocuted in their showers, Guantanamo, Abu Garab Prison, the water boarding, the Hurricane Katrina disaster, the unregulated gambling of Wall Street with our dollars, the unbelievable bonuses given to managers who bankrupted our pension funds, and so much corruption that it may take decades to sort it all out. I'll bet you a dollar to a donut hole that Republicans and Gore haters would still vote for George Bush; even though we now know that George and Dick would allow oil companies to co-opt all the regulatory mechanisms of government and lead directly to the worst environmental disaster in our history. I would bet another dollar against another donut hole that the Supreme Court would once again stop the vote count in Florida and elect George Bush as President. Hold your hands up, Republicans , if you would change your vote. Just as I thought; no hands raised.
We have been witness to Republican government and business corruption the likes of which have not been seen since the McKinley Administration and the Teapot Dome scandal. In fact, it is as if Dick read a little McKinley history as a pattern for Republican Government. We have had Republicans in charge before, and we have seen what they do. It is always the same. It will be the same if they are empowered in 2010.
Now I cannot let Democrats off scot free. There are too many Democrats who feed from the same business trough as the Republicans. They should be ashamed and they should be replaced in Democratic Primaries.
Now we are facing a mid-term election and the few voters that will participate are restless. They seem to want change again. The problem we all face is that changing back would bring us face to face with the same corrupt mess we just recently put aside. Remember folks, if you put the Republican Elephant in charge, there will be a huge mess and it will be hell to clean up.
