Before I answer this, I am not an expert, and am just relaying info that I have researched from sources that I believe to be accurate but might not be. Lake martin was first stocked with striped bass around 1970. A stripe that is two years old will be around 12 inches long. A five year old fish will weigh between 7 and 10 pounds. Most stripe quit traveling in schools at 6 years of age unless the water temp gets too high and they will congregate in pockets of cooler water. (high 60s) in saltwater they can live for 30 years but in freshwater most die before they reach 15 years old. A 50 pounder is no younger than 15 years old.
